IUDI collaborated with School of Planning and Architecture, New Delhi and All India Institute of Local Self Governance (AIILSG) and organized a one-day workshop on 14th February, 2015. This workshop was part of the ongoing ‘Urban Dialogues’ series of AIILSG.
The following key aspects were covered through the workshop: (a) Understanding of the City from the perspective of Urban Design; (b) Importance & role of Urban Design;(c ) Urban Design for Local Areas and City Futures; and (d) Urban Design as Public Policy
The papers at the seminar were presented by eminent professionals drawn from rich pool of IUDI and they shared mix of projects of different scales happening across the country such as Delhi, Ahmedabad, Pune, Patna, Manali along with academic presentations on the subject of urban design.
The workshop offered an opportunity to share best practices and create a broader professional network along with exploring the value of multidisciplinary working, including the involvement of communities and wider stakeholders in creating better places to live.
The event was well attended by more than 50 participants and included representatives of State government departments, academics and research scholars, professionals and students apart from members of civil society.Some of the important participants and speakers in the workshop includedProf.ChetanVaidya, Director- SPA Delhi, Prof. (Dr.) P.S.N.
